The Folding Table Design and Features

Folding tables typically mimic the design of a trestle table. This style of table is a piece of furniture comprising two or three trestle supports linked by a longitudinal cross-member over which a board or tabletop is placed. It is the earliest form of table, after the basic pedestal style known to be used in ancient times. By the middle ages the trestle table was often little more than loose boards over trestle legs for ease of assembly and storage. Folding tables are the evolutionary product of these original trestle tables with the same common principles of easy assembly and storage. These features make the now well known folding table the ideal occasional table.

Industry Standards for Folding Tables

Most of our folding fables meet and exceed industry test standards recognized by the BIFMA. These standards are developed by the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association Engineering Committee. Standards are reviewed every five years and are intended to provide manufacturers, specifiers, and users with a common basis for evaluating safety, durability, and the structural adequacy of the furniture and construction materials.
